Caring for Creation A Catechism of Creation: An Episcopal Understanding. "Part I [Theology of Creation] outlines the doctrine of creation, drawing upon the Bible and the theology of the early Church. Part II [Creation and Science] presents basic information about modern scientific discoveries and theories about the history of the universe and of life. It also gives examples showing how science has informed and inspired a new theological understanding of God’s relationship to the creation. Finally, Part III [Caring for Creation] presents the biblical basis for the church’s commitment to an ethic of caring for creation, and suggests ways in which individuals and congregations might live out this ministry." Includes two appendixes: a bibliography encouraging further study of topics presented, and a lectionary guide for preachers. "It has become clear that care for the environment presents a major challenge for the whole of humanity in the 21st Century. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales wishes to add its voice to the many calling for urgent action to protect our earthly home from further destruction. A way of life that disregards and damages God's creation, forces the poor into greater poverty, and threatens the right of future generations to a healthy environment and to their fair share of the earth's wealth and resources, is contrary to the vision of the Gospel."
