The trip to GRE included:

  • A tour of Great River Energy’s new LEED Platinum-certified headquarters in Maple Grove, MN, followed by a reception. GRE’s headquarters is one of the most energy efficient and environmentally sound commercial buildings in the world today.
  • Briefing from energy efficiency leaders and experts from GRE, Xcel Energy, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, Center for Energy and Environment, Medtronic Inc., and the Great Plains Institute on:

o Energy efficiency potential and priority opportunities for energy efficiency gains and financial savings;

o Utility resource planning and demand side management;

o Key state and federal legislative and regulatory policies;

o Community energy efficiency initiatives; and

o Consumer/public education and incentive programs.
